The “Garden House” is a new two bedroom house over ground and lower ground floors on Elm Grove. The design intentionally separates itself from that of traditional expectations of a “house” and it appears as a secondary or temporary structure. Scale and materials reinforce this distinction, detailed in a high quality, simple and contemporary way.
After an appeal and second successsful planning application this one bedroom home is now complete. Designed not to look like a house, this single storey structure replaces a previous garage at the bottom of the garden on a corner plot.
